Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,
This Sunday we will have a Celebration Sunday with a special liturgy written especially for the occasion. We are celebrating freedom: freedom from sin through our Savior Jesus Christ, freedom from our debt, and freedom to explore what and where we are being called to serve our Lord and God in the future.
Every Sunday is a celebration of the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, our Savior...the One who gives us freedom, who loves us unconditionally, and the One who challenges us every day of our lives to live...not for ourselves but for others.
This Sunday we also celebrate something very special in the life of any parish...the retirement of a large financial debt. According to the research I have been able to do the debt we are celebrating the retirement of originated in the mid-1990s as All Saints was expanding the Nave, updating the Education Building and building The Life Center. We benefit today from the faithful vision and generous giving of many All Saints saints who called this spiritual place "Home." We are indebted to them and we are also indebted to each other for we have faithfully completed what they started so many years ago.
We celebrate this Sunday with special prayers, incense, a special Eucharistic Prayer, and as all good Episcopalians do, we will complete our celebration breaking bread together enjoying Jim McCarthy's amazing gathering of edible delights.
However, our work is never done and it is not done now. Now we are called to dream and to vision as to where God is calling us next. What are we being called to do at All Saints, in this community and in the world next? Big questions with no easy answers! We now have another great task before us: to dream big, to bring Christ to the world and to transform all of us as we go about loving and being little Christs to the world.
See Ya Sunday!
