Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,
Chris and I have just returned from an 1800 mile trip to Chicago, IL and back where we dropped off our daughter, Emma, to serve a year with The Episcopal Service Corps. She has been placed at a non-profit in Waukegan called "Waukegan to College" where she will assist and prepare disadvantaged students and their parents about how to prepare for and get into college. Chris and I are so proud of her.
Emma will live in an intentional community of like-minded young college graduates who will serve approximately 15 non-profits around Chicago. These young people live together, shop, cook, and break bread together and serve those less fortunate than themselves. They will gain an insight into the world that few people get to experience. They will come away better prepared to change the world and make it a better place.
I don't just want to talk about Emma here but share with you that The Episcopal Service Corps is currently in about 33 locations from Los Angeles to Philadelphia and Wilwaukee to Houston and many places in-between. Dedicated young people who want to change the world and make it a better place are giving of themselves to do just that. What I came away with from our little excursion is that we are in good hands, our young people are dedicated and motivated, caring about our world and radiating God's love to everyone they meet.
If you are interested in learning more about this program please go to www.episcopalservicecrps.org and discover what our young people are doing.
I ask that you pray for Emma and for all the young people who are giving of themselves during their year of service.
Peace and Blessings this day and week.
