2 Peter 3:14-15 Therefore, beloved, while you are waiting for these things, strive to be found by him at peace, without spot or blemish; and regard the patience of our Lord as salvation.
My job after high school was as a receptionist and typist in a publishing house in Manhattan. The firm taught me to run a telephone switchboard and to transcribe correspondence from dictating machines.
One day I typed a long letter, only to have it sent back to me to be retyped. The error was circled, so I retyped the letter as requested. Imagine my consternation when I received the letter for yet another retyping. I apparently had trouble spelling fifteen correctly, spelling it "fifthteen" the first and second times. Oh! The days before spellcheck!
Fortunately, I was blessed with a patient supervisor who gave me specific feedback on my misspelling. She saved me from making the same mistake a third time. I could be at peace in doing my job, knowing that my supervisor practiced patience so I could succeed. I pray I can offer that patience to others, and I'm thankful that Jesus offers it to me everyday.
