The events of Pentecost Day are foretold by Jesus in the first chapter of the Acts of the Apostles, just before his Ascension.  We celebrate Pentecost as the inauguration of the Church's mission in the world.  Empowered by the gift of the Holy Spirit, we are to go into our neighborhoods and the wider world - to Jerusalem, to Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth - witnessing to the risen Christ.

The summer of Pentecost bring a great gift: TIME.
  • Time to do the important things that were put off because other seasons were too full to include them.
  • Time to plan ahead and to meet with leaders and teachers for the coming year.
  • Time to involve other leadership, giving church school teachers who have worked through the past year more opportunity for reading, leisure, rest, and prayer.
  • Time to be open at trying new things.
  • Time for fun together as a whole parish or as smaller groups: picnics, cookouts, overnight camping trips, swimming parties, outdoor suppers.
During this long season of Pentecost, transition, and the gift of time, my prayer is that you will treasure your relationships and be open to the Spirit of God's leading.
Keep the Faith,
