Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,
Fr. Gary is at Christmount, a Christian Conference Center just outside Black Mountain serving as Spiritual Director for a Cursillo Weekend. All Saints is well represented on team and we also have two pilgrims attending: Cheryl Richard and Kelly Halley. Please keep the team and the pilgrims in prayer as they experience Christ in a new way!
The following is the Forward Day by Day Reflection for today, Thursday, May 8th.
Psalm 37:7. Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him.
Every weekday morning at this seminary begins with thirty minutes of silent meditation in the chapel. It is a defining discipline for the students and faculty.
Most of us struggle with it at times. God is always present no matter where we are, always waiting for us to approach with open hearts and minds. But we are not always able to make that connection at a prescribed time as though we were catching a bus.
Maybe it's a lack of concentration on our part. Maybe we're distracted by sadness, worry, or joy. Maybe we're simply not ready, willing, or able to hear what God is trying to tell us.
When those times occur-and they do and they will-all we can do is to be still and wait patiently for God. Often, that's enough. The blessing of simply being in God's presence is a powerful one.
Patience is not a virtue for many of us. We live busy lives in a busy world full of commitments, deadlines, chaos, and stress. Yet God waits patiently for us. The least we can do is return the favor.
Alleluia, Christ is risen. The Lord is risen indeed! Alleluia!
Blessings, Peace, Joy, & Hope,
