Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,
Today's Forward Day by Day meditation:
Psalm 70:1. Be pleased, O God, to deliver me; O LORD, make haste to help me.
Sometimes when I pray, I have a conversation with God. Most of the time, though, it's all I can do to get out one simple word, "help." God knows what is on our hearts and what we need more than we do.
The simplest prayers are often the most powerful."Help!" "Forgive me." "Thank you!" In times of trouble, when I start to feel overwhelmed, I find myself praying, "God, help me. I cannot do this alone."
So many of the psalms begin with a cry for help. Throughout the ages, the simple plea for help is universal. Nothing else makes me feel bound to the communion of saints more than the simple request for help. Reading through the psalms, I feel a connection to the psalmists-and not just to them, but also to the generations of people who have read them and felt a familiar chord ring out in their hearts-help us, have mercy, hear our prayer...
May you find comfort in simple prayers and in knowing that God hears when we cry out for help.
