Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,
You may have noticed a sign out in front of our church welcoming all "NO EXCEPTIONS!"
To be truly welcoming is to not have any preconceived ideas about who is welcome at God's table for all are truly welcome. God has called each and every one of us to welcome ALL in God's name to make sure evry person who crosses our threshold or those we meet at work, the store, the highway are beloved children of God with whom God is well pleased.
When practiced faithfully and truthfully it is a truly freeing act because we come to understand the world as God sees it and how God made it. That we all live in harmony with one another. Not always agreeing necessarily but in harmony respecting the dignity of each human person.
This past Friday five member of All Saints: Inga Kish, Josie Polhemus, Adam Nygren, Mike Mong and myself took our banner and marched with fellow believers for the dignity of all humanity in the Belmont PRIDE walk. We encountered a few haters, a few people who are still afraid and trapped within themselves, but we also encountered many thumbs up, waving, and shouts of We Love You from passing motorists.
It is in these times and in these forums where we take those steps outside those "established norms" of the past and are rewarded with a deep realization and affection of the sacred.
May it be the same for us this Sunday and everyday of our lives.
