The Rev. Lynn Orville

Rector

Rev. Lynn D. Orville became rector of All Saints in Gastonia on September 7, 2021.  She is a gifted teacher with a longstanding passion for Christian formation and for vocational formation for deacons and priests.  She is empathetic and compassionate with gifts for pastoral care.

 A graduate of Bellevue University with a BS in Psychology and a minor in Women’s Studies and Virginia Theological Seminary, Lynn was ordained a priest in the Episcopal Church in 1998.  Lynn is currently pursuing her doctorate at Duke Divinity School.  Lynn brings a wealth of experience and has served in a variety of roles within the Episcopal

community. Lynn most recently served as rector of St. Andrews by the Sea in Little Compton, Rhode Island. Lynn served as rector, priest or a consultant in churches and dioceses in Nebraska, Minnesota, Maine and Pennsylvania.  Lynn has also served as a consultant for diaconal curriculum and education in dioceses throughout New England, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia.  Prior to ordination, Lynn worked in support of families and adult offenders in the juvenile court system in Nebraska.

 

Lynn and her husband, Doug, have a married daughter who is an organic farmer living in Germany.  Lynn enjoys quilting, reading, needlework and swimming.

Joan Pierce

Parish Administrator

Joan has been residing in Gastonia since May of 2016. Joan was originally born and raised in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, and is an Army Veteran having served at Fort Benning, GA. Joan relocated to San Diego County where she lived for 28 years. Most of Joan’s work experience has been working with individuals with special needs/disabilities. She worked at the local school district in Ramona, CA for 11 years as a Special Education Aide and then as the Workability Program Director, employing individuals with special needs. Joan also worked at Saint Madeleine Sophie’s Center and Work Skill Resources before moving to Gastonia where she

worked for the State of North Carolina for 5 years and has recently retired from NCWorks. Joan is a graduate of the University of Lowell, Lowell MA and has a bachelor's degree in Business Administration.

Rebecca Beatty

Director of Music Ministries

Becky, who lives in Gastonia, is a United Methodist married to Rev. Dr. Wayne Beatty, a retired United Methodist minister. They have one daughter, Laura, who teaches elementary music in Hickory. Becky has degrees in Church Music/Organ from Greensboro College and East Carolina University. Since moving to Gastonia 21 years ago she has taught piano privately, accompanied voice students and school choirs, has been a substitute and interim organist at several churches, and held the position as director of music/organist at three different congregations in the area.
